I contributed a number of small works for the uni(psycho)acoustics installation developed with artist Carsten Nicolai (aka Alva Noto) at the MMK, Frankfurt (2013). The audio chamber concentrates on psychoacoustic phenomena and explores the effects of auditory impression. An ipad allows a user to scroll through an ‘encyclopedia’ of psychoacoustics while experiencing the auditory illusion. A description of what is happening on the acoustic level is provided on the screen, while the listeners mind produces, for example, the illusion of an unbroken sound, or an ever ascending (or descending) tone.
